Reinstallation of the sculpture "Untitled" 1981, by artist John Henry (American, born 1943) at the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska.
Although the sculpture needed complete refinishing, we followed the guidelines in our Standards & Safety Manual for painted metal regarding packing for transport. The components were packed and stabilized on a dedicated truck.
After restoration and return to the museum, a dry fit was performed to establish the exact placement of piers for the art.
Each fastening bolt is tightened using a torque wrench to ensure even tensioning throughout the sculpture.
Fast, professional, museum-quality packing is essential in evacuating artwork. Appropriate safety wear is always necessary in catastrophy sites.
